2021 Open Studio Tour Registration Policy

The South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour is dedicated to enhancing the art scene in our region by providing opportunities for artists to show their work, and for the public to interact with artists directly in order to see how and where art is created. Artists registering for the Tour must live and/or work in the designated region.

In order to be a Registered Tour Artist, an artist must exhibit in a Single Studio or Single Studio with one Guest. Studio spaces are subject to SCA guidelines and approval.

Studio Registrations are limited to (2) total artists, and may not be located in a multiple artist commercial gallery, or multiple artist studio location. Please contact SCA for sponsorship details to be on the open studio map as a sponsored gallery or multiple artist studio center.

All registered artists are eligible to enter a work in South Coast Artists Annual Art Contest. First place receives their tour registration free (a $275 value) second place receives $150, third place receives $100. All winning artworks are showcased in the tour brochure’s feature section, and are eligible for inclusion in Tour marketing materials. There is no additional fee for the competition, but participation is not automatic and is made via the website after tour registration. Click here to view the Annual Contest Prospectus.

Single Studio

An artist displays artwork at a permanent structure such as their working studio or home studio located in the SCA Region of Dartmouth, MA, Westport, MA, Tiverton, RI or Little Compton, RI.

Single Studio with One Guest:

An artist may invite or share his or her Single Studio space with one other local artist, whether the arrangement is long-term or only for the Tour weekends. Each artist registers individually for the Tour, each receives a thumbnail image plus text in the brochure, and the location is numbered on the Tour Map.

July 17 & 18, 2021 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

August 21 & 22, 2021 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

Registration Deadlines and Fees

Early Bird Registration: February 24, 2021 through March 16, 2021.

Regular Registration: March 16, 2021 through March 31, 2021.

Uploading Your Images

It is essential that your images are uploaded correctly. Please follow the directions carefully. Images may be cropped details of your work, but must be six inches square JPEGs saved at 300 dpi. Approximately 1800 x 1800 pixels.

The image to be included in the brochure must be labeled correctly: artist’s last name, underscore, first initial, underscore, a shortened version of the title, underscore, BRO. For example, Roberta Smith’s painting, Two Trees in the Woods, would be labeled, Smith_R_2Trees_BRO.jpg

IMPORTANT DATES:

● February 24 – Early Bird Tour Registration and Early Bird Contest Submissions open.
● March 17 to March 31 – Tour Registration and Contest Submissions open to all other members
● March 31 – Tour Registration closes. PLEASE NOTE: tour registration may close earlier if the maximum number of 75 artists is reached.
● April 14 – Contest Submissions close
● May 20 – Contest Winners Announced at Members Gathering
● June 18 – Kick Off Party
● July 17 & 18 – Open Studio Tour Weekend One
● August 21 & 22 – Open Studio Tour Weekend Two
