Barbara Healy's paintings are inspired by the diverse colors of light in the coastal landscape where she lives. She frequently paints plein air using all her senses to share her vision. Paintings capture that feeling of peace and joy that nature gives. She looks for what is unique to convey a sense of place. Although often evoked by a fleeting moment, she translates in paint to transcend time. Brushstrokes over glimpses of color intentionally reveal some of the painting process. Her preferred medium has been oil paint on canvas, but the artist is always experimenting with some work on wood panels and some with acrylic paint. The artist has a BFA from UMass Dartmouth.
