CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS EMPHASIZING COLOR, SPACE AND HARMONY

Sakonnet Point Studio

For years I have lived and worked in this beautiful south coast area of New England. For much of that time I traveled to and from my studio here in Rhode Island and my studio and farmhouse on the south coast of Brittany in France.

So my paintings reflect work done on two similar coastlines…both close to farmland, open ocean, and beaches.

The fields and farms, rivers and trees, and the rocky shores of both places are jumping off points for my main preoccupations: color, edge, and structure; a balanced tension, and a distillation of the abstract and eternal from the concrete and specific.

In 2022 I was honored to have my painting ‘Farm By Sea’ chosen by the US Ambassador to China, to be hung at the Ambassador’s residence in Beijing as part of the State Department' “Art in Embassies” program.

In 2023 my painting ‘Lull’ won the prize for best contemporary or non-traditional work, at the Providence Art Club’s Fall Member’s exhibit.

My work has been featured in Coastal Living Magazine, the Boston Design Center, Dedee Shattuck Gallery, Gallery at Four, and at the Providence Art Club.

Sakonnet Point Studio is open seasonally from May through September. My year round studio is located in the historic Fleur De Lys Studios at the Providence Art Club, where I am an Exhibiting Artist member.
