MOODY AND ATMOSPHERIC REFLECTIONS OF COASTAL MA, FRANCE, AND IRELAND.

Heidi O’Donnell Eastman

Belle Maison Westport

Bio:
Heidi is an artist, interior designer, writer, and historian. Painting from a young age, she’s been influenced by some of America’s greatest 20th-century painters in her hometown, the art colony of Provincetown. She immersed herself in art and design while living in Paris and the south of France. Her moody and atmospheric paintings are reflections of the southcoast and Cape Cod, MA, and the Celtic coasts of Ireland, Scotland, and France. She is an instructor at the Rhode Island School of Design and an international programs consultant for the University of Glasgow, Scotland. As co-owner of Belle Maison Westport, she blends all of her creative interests. Her award-winning curriculum is taught throughout Europe and the USA. Heidi received teaching fellowships from The Swiss Government and the Uberoi Foundation in India. The Gilder Lehrman Institute of New York City nominated her as History Teacher of the Year. She has degrees from Université d’Aix-Marseille, the Ecole du Louvre in Paris, New York University, and the UMASS Amherst. She attended RISD’s Interior Design program.

Artist Statement:
At the core, I am an expressionist painter capturing movement. At times my paintings reflect that moment when the movement has become still and quiet. My paintings are the deliberation of my interaction with my surroundings: nature, architecture, and interiors. In nature, it is color and movement that speak to me. In architecture and interiors, it is line and form.
I love to work with oil paint; its texture density and pigment are a visceral experience for me as much as the inspiration from what I see in the world around me. The journey for me is as important as the end result.
