In 2020, after working as a painter for many years, I began exploring ceramics. I have long admired simple, but imaginative containers and vessels made by people from different cultures and it is this approach which I take in my own work. I use the wheel to create a basic shape, but often add handmade adornments. The surface treatment of the forms is alluring to me and is inspired by my love of textiles and designs from the natural world. I enjoy using matte and gloss finishes in a single piece. My use of pattern, color and form are influenced by favorite painters including Edouard Vuillard, Giorgio Morandi, Richard Diebenkorn and Warren Rohrer.
