Mary studied painting at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in the early seventies. She left to study as an artist apprentice with classical painter Eugene Tonoff. After two years, she joined Seed Idea, an advertising agency in Providence, focusing on product and fashion illustration. In 1976 she launched her career as a freelance illustrator working primarily in book publishing and giftware design. Several of her giftware lines have sold as collectibles nationally and internationally.
Now Mary focuses her art on nature-themed oil painting, working in a semi-impressionistic style. "I create art to help people connect with the serenity that is inherent in nature, and to bring about a sense of peace in their lives. It is a continual learning process that I am thrilled to be able to experience."
