Taylor Smith has been intrigued with the beauty and peace of nature his entire life. The “deeper” into nature he has explored the better, which can elicit emotional responses to certain locations. This includes but is not limited to various excursions in Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Whenever a scene triggers a sense of unusual beauty it becomes a potential subject for the artistic deconstructive process.

Taylor has been a painter most of his life running a house painting business starting in high school and ultimately becoming a professional painter before launching his water purification business twenty years ago.

Inspired by the exceptional “Van Gogh and Nature” exhibit at the Clark Museum in 2016, Taylor concluded that since he knew how to “push the paint”, he might be able to create his own paintings. He entered a program at the Plymouth Art Guild under the guidance of Dorothy Simone, and his new intimacy with paint began. He has exhibited in the member and juried shows at Plymouth Center for the Arts and the Provincetown Art Association, as well as having a solo show at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River for two months in the winter of 2024.
