Tina Rawson Art
Tina Rawson, a Swedish-American painter with a background in art and education, paints and teaches art in Newburyport, MA. She studied art at the University of Pittsburgh, Mass College of Art, Northshore Atelier and with renowned en-plein air artists. Along with numerous solo shows in Newburyport, she has shown in Like Mother, Like Daughter: International Women of Art at the Centennial Gallery, in Peabody, MA; My Essentials at The Wenham Museum; and Memories of LC at The Coastal Living Gallery in RI. Tina is an artist member of The Newburyport Arts Association, Haverhill Arts Association, South Coast Artists, The Art Queens, and Oppna Sinnen (in Southern Sweden). She is part of the Cedar Street Studios in Amesbury where you can find her painting away on the third floor in room 319. As a contemporary artist working primarily in acrylics, she works to convey not only the scene, but also the moment and mood. “I paint to put a color to gratitude; a shape around a feeling; and remember things that are important. I express feelings that were locked in a moment with swirling patterning and bold colors. First, I build intimacy with the subject matter by sketching it so that when I add brushwork and color, it exudes the feeling of how that moment was. I often work outside, tapping into that feeling of joy, and finishing in the studio, capturing the essence of a moment and offering viewers an uplifting, positive message.”
